The dream of three Englishmen and one American who wanted to build an authentic British pub in California, the Duke has been a Silicon Valley institution since Halloween 1983. Everything inside -- the bar, ceiling, carpet, wallpaper, lamps -- was made in England, packed in containers, and shipped to California. On any given night, regulars can be found watching a football match or throwing darts. The Duke has sponsored adult soccer teams for decades.
